It was cool Saturday night as the Nebraska Lottery presented Get Fired Up 2017. A great crowd filled the stands and 178 teams of racers filled the pits. 20 heats and 5 B Features set the line-ups for the main events.

There were no significant incidents in those preliminary races.

The Hoosier Tire IMCA Sport Modified A Main saw Mary Lenz’s 17, Scott Bivens in the S56, the 22A of Matthew Andrews and Derek Hall’s 44D the first four back to the flag stand on lap #1. Josh Pfeifer vaulted his 33J all the way up to third on lap 5 with Lance Borgman’s 76 taking over fourth the next lap and passing Pfeifer for third on lap 9. Pfeifer took the lead after another circuit and Borgman followed him for second place the next time around. Trent Roth put the 14T into fourth on lap 13 and moved up to third 3 laps later. Borgman and Pfeifer traded the top spot over laps 18 through 20 with Borgman holding the lead at the end. The top 4 were Borgman, Pfeifer, Roth and Lenz.

Next was the A Feature for the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stocks with Jeff Ware’s 83 leading lap 1, Jake Harms in the 6J second, the 66 of Jeff Watts third and Mark Saathoff’s 97 fourth. Harms dropped back to fourth on lap 3. Saathoff moved up to second on lap 6 with Roy Armstrong taking over fourth in the 6R. Lap 9 saw Matt Beckner loop the 00M in turn 4. Damon Richards passed Armstrong on lap 11, putting the 67 into fourth. 2 more circuits were in the books when Watts headed to the pits and Armstrong made a huge move, jumping all the way up to second. Richards moved up to third on lap 14. The top 4 went unchanged to the finish with Ware winning, Armstrong second Richards third and Saathoff fourth.

Roger “Chevy” Hadan led the first lap of the Kaplan University IMCA Modified A in his #4, followed by Aaron Pella’s 3A, the 27 of Clint Homan third and the 21 of Josh Blumer fourth. Homan passed Pella on lap 2 for second with Blumer taking third the next lap. Shane Hiatt put the 21H into fourth on lap 5. Blumer moved up to second on lap 5. Bob Zoubek moved into fourth on lap 9. Homan advanced to second on lap 11 with Hiatt retaking fourth the next time around. Homan grabbed the lead on lap 15 with Hiatt moving up to third the next lap and advancing to second after 3 more circuits. The final change in the top 4 came after 1 more lap when Johnny Saathoff moved up to fourth in the 96J. That made the top 4 Homan, Hiatt, Hadan and Saathoff.

The Mountain Dew Kick Start IMCA Sport Compact Feature’s first lap showed Larry Cronin’s 70SS lead lap 1 with Dillon Richards’ 24R, the 24 of Drake Bohlmeyer and Spencer Pavey III filling the next 3 spots.  Richards took the lead the next lap and a huge shuffle the next time around saw Kyle Owen take second in the 10KB, Bohlmeyer move to third and Cronin fall to fourth. Owen passed Richards for the lead the next lap. Another lap saw Cronin move to third, only to lose the spot back to Bohlmeyer on lap 6 and retake it the next time around. Richards retook the top spot on lap 8 as Cole Krichau’s 30K moved up to fourth. Krichau advanced to third on lap 10 and then moving up to second after another 4 laps. That made the final top four Richards, Krichau, Owen and Cronin.

Shayle Bade’s 03 led the pack on the first lap of the Racesaver IMCA Sprint Cars with the rest of the top 4 being Tyler Drueke’s 12, Joey Danley in the 14 and the 2J of Zach Blurton. The yellow lights were lit for a car spinning in turn 4 on lap 2. Trevor Grossenbacher’s #35 spun in turn 4 on lap 9 and went to the pits on the hook. Mike Boston looped the 51 in turn 2 on lap 11. Danley moved to second on lap 17 with Matt Richards putting the 1R into fourth. 2 laps later Danley took the lead with Richards advancing to third the next time around.
