Sobbing, VanLaningham, Ableson, Lindblad & Boston victorious during Super Mania Night #1

Posted 29 Apr 2012 in Headlines

By Greg Soukup Sunny skies and spring-like temperatures greeted the fans who came to Super Mania Night #1 presented by the Nebraska Lottery at Eagle Raceway as the 2012 season began. But as the clouds rolled in and the wind picked up, the temperatures turned downright chilly. But the hardy folks in the stands saw great racing from the 180+ cars who signed into the pits. There were 2 minor incidents in the preliminary events that resulted in no significant injuries. By the time the features rolled around, the track turned dry-slick but still had 2 lines. The majority of the racers preferred the low line, but for those who moved to the cushion found that they could be...

Icebreaker Challenge wins go to Johnson, Saathoff, Olsen and Stewart

Posted 22 Apr 2012 in Headlines

By Greg Soukup The final night of the 2012 Icebreaker Challenge at “America’s Home Track” saw a capacity crowd, both in the stands and in the pits. Sunny but very windy conditions led to a dry-slick track, but that didn’t mean that the fans saw anything less than great racing action from the 148 cars who signed in. Those who showed up saw that plus got to witness NASCAR superstar Tony Stewart do what he does best; race! There were 2 major incidents in the preliminary action. In the IMCA Sport Compact B Feature Austin Angel ended up going for a nasty ride as his 7A racer went barrel-rolling down the front stretch. He was uninjured. In the ASCS...

Sobbing, Noteboom and Gharst take home wins on Icebreaker Challenge Night 1

Posted 21 Apr 2012 in Headlines

By Greg Soukup The ice was definitely broken Friday night, but that didn’t mean that the temperatures were warm at Eagle Raceway. The 2012 Icebreaker Challenge ran under cloudy skies and with very cool temperatures that held the crowd size down. Those who braved the elements were treated to 12 heats, 3 A Features, 3 B Features and even a C Feature. The only serious incident in the preliminary events came in the third ASCS Sprint Car heat when Tige Jensen’s #71 made contact with the 21K of Lou Kennedy Jr. Both cars ended up flipping with Jensen ending up over the turn 4 wall. Both drivers walked away. The first A Feature was for the NAPA IMCA Sport...
