Eagle Raceway
2025 Awards Banquet Story and Awards List
Story by Greg Soukup
Saturday evening, I was fortunate to attend the 2025 Eagle Raceway Awards Banquet (AKA My racing family reunion). As always, the room was packed with racers, racer’s families, crew members, raceway staff and volunteers and of course the class champions from both Mini-E and the big track.
We were treated to a great buffet style meal prior to the actual festivities followed by Roger Hadan giving his yearly ‘State of the track’ report. Among those items he spoke about were the improvements made to the track itself, including 5-foot-high steel walls in place of the old Armco barriers at each end of the track. Mini E Raceway will be adding the Juice Box class for 3-6 year olds as a "just for fun" event at intermissions. Possibly the biggest announcement was that his daughter Racine would become the owner of the track, with the paperwork to be signed that evening. Roger stated that he would continue doing the ‘grunt work’ at the facility because that was his favorite thing to do. I found that a little bit odd because I always thought that coming up with improvements to the track, new innovations and goofy additions to the evening’s competition were his forte.
After that, all of the sponsors that make it possible for the sport that we all love to be contested were recognized. Then, all of the points champions and top performers from both Mini-E and Eagle Raceway itself were honored, along with a few special awards such as most popular driver and best-looking car in each class as well as perfect attendance, and others. The staff and volunteers of Eagle Raceway were also recognized for their contributions, which make every race night a safe and enjoyable one for all. Following the awards the celebration moved on to dancing and conversation.
I am proud to say that this coming season will be my 29th year of being associated with Eagle Raceway. My hope is that I will be able to keep up my little contribution to the track at least until I hit the 30-year mark and hopefully far beyond that. Every one of those years were wonderful for me, with each one being better than the previous ones.
I am sure everyone in attendance plus those who weren’t able to attend want to send a huge thank you to Roger and Racine. Giving the drivers a fabulous place to race, the fans fast-paced action run in a timely manner and personally for the chance to speak to the winners in each class and writing about the night’s events.
I can’t wait for the Icebreaker Challenge to kick off the 2026 season on April 17th with several other special events throughout the season such as 2 visits from the High Limit Sprint Car series, the 3-day High Banks Heist sponsored by Malvern Bank and featuring the Lucas Oil Late Model Series, the Stewart Alley Memorial presented by Tyler Perry Enterprises and of course the 4-day IMCA Racesaver Nationals with the best Racesaver drivers from all over the country.
See you in April at America’s Home Track, Eagle Raceway!!

2025 “The Jimi” Rising Star Award (These Awards are dedicated to Jimi Grasso. Jimi Grasso grew up racing gokarts and then moved up to race on the big track. This award is a Rising star award and is given to drivers that move up from Mini E Raceway’s Gokart track to race on Eagle Raceway’s big track. Drivers must be 21 or younger and make the top 20 in points at Eagle Raceway to receive this award and will only receive the award once in their career.)
-Cash Beckman #44X (Stock Car Division)
-Luke Williams #75 (SportMod Division)
2025 Hard Luck Award:
Mason Richards #18M Stock Car (Came so close to the championship title in the stock car. The last night was a doozy. We thought Mason had the title locked up after Chad Andersen’s engine blew up in the A Feature. Then unfortunately after another caution, Mason’s wheel flew off giving Chad Andersen the track championship. Which leads us to the Homer Simpson award…)
2025 Homer Simpson Award: Terry Richards #18R Stock Car (For the biggest DOHHHH moment of the season. Staying on the track the final points night helped his son lose the championship. If Terry would have pulled off the track right after Chad Andersen’s engine blew up, Mason would have still won the title of 2025 Eagle Raceway Track Champion.)
2025 Slick Chick Award: (Woman Driver that finished highest in points):
Mary Hahn #17 SportMod. She finished 25th in points in the SportMod Division.

Dillon Richards in the Hobby Stock class (Pretty sure he celebrated with some spectacular cookies or burnouts every single time he won, plus he had a badass fence climb)

Dillon Richards Hobby Stock Driver (Had 13 A Feature wins at Eagle Raceway in 2025)
2025 Viral Moment Award: We started this award a few years ago based on interviews and what not that have gone wild on the internet etc. This year a few things came to mind. Once again, these awards are just for good fun and not meant to offend anyone.
-Brandon Verbeek in the Modified Class. If you know, you know.
-Matt Andrews in the SportMod Class. I wonder how many free t-shirts he had to give away?

2025 Stranger Things Awards (these awards are for strange things that happen and/or honorable mentions. People that should probably receive some sort of award):

-James Patterson in the Stock Car class (After a wreck, he ended up a lawn dart on the front stretch)
-The Beer-a-mid people in the grandstands. (Did you see that massive pyramid of cans they built?! Maybe this year we should go for a world record! I’m sure these fans aren’t here today, but, we will have an award waiting for them in the announcers booth this year.)
