Svoboda, Ware, Grossenbacher, Young & Wayman celebrate wins at Freedom Fest

It was another fantastic night of racing Saturday night at Eagle Raceway as Pepsi and ATV Motorsports presented Freedom Fest. The great crowd of fans enjoyed some of the best, most exciting racing so far this season. After the cars were parked for the evening those same fans were treated to what may have been the largest fireworks show in the state. What a grand way to top off the day that celebrates our country’s freedom!!!

All preliminary events were run without significant happenings.

The Coors Light IMCA Sportmod feature saw Shawn Hein’s 5H first back to the flag stand with Bobby Draper in the 62, the 14 of Braydon Latture and the 17X of Steffen Oaks rounding out the top 4. Draper snagged the lead on lap 4. Latture looped it in turns 1 & 2 the next time around and collected the 36 of Dana Deeke. Draper and the 18W of Cole Wayman. Wayman moved to third on the restart as Robbie Thome put the 1T into 4th. Wayman advanced to the second position the next time around. Lap 8 saw Draper spin out in turn 4 for a caution. That put Shawn Harker’s 40 into fourth. Oaks pulled off the racing surface with 9 laps remaining. Wayman grabbed the lead putting Schouten second, Harker third and Thome fourth. Thome spun in turn 3 with 5 to go but kept going, but not before the yellow flag came out putting Adam Vrbka’s 7V into fourth. 1 lap after the restart Harker moved to second with Trevor Baker taking over fourth the next circuit in the 25!. Dion Kovar spun the 18 out in turns 3 and 4 to cause a green/white/checkered finish. The top 4 remained unchanged with Wayman taking home his second consecutive win, Harker second, Schouten third and Baker fourth.

Tyler Jackson’s 13T, the 3N of Neil Pella, Jeff Watts in the 66 and Khrysta Stransky’s 39 led the field after 1 circuit of the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock finale. Stransky passed Watts on lap 2. Roy Armstrong jumped up to third in the 6R the next lap with Ben Becher taking the B4 to fourth. Chantel Bade’s 02 spun in turn2 on lap 5. Watts grabbed the lead on the restart as Armstrong moved up to second. Jackson passed Armstrong the next time around but lost the spot back to Armstrong on lap 8. Jeff Ware cracked the top four with 4 laps left in the 83 and got a huge run to take the lead on the last lap. The top 4 were Ware, Armstrong, Jackson and Watts.

The Nebraska Lottery IMCA Modifieds were up next with Kale Smith’s 50s, the 3A of Aaron Pella, Nate Thompson in the 3T and Clint Homan’s 27 leading lap 1. Bob Zoubek’s 5S, the 30 of Jordan Grabouski and Shane Hiatt in the 21H stopped in turn 4 on lap 2 for a caution. Smith fell to third on the restart. Austin Svoboda vaulted all the way to the lead shortly after in the 16. Homan got back to fourth on lap 5. Jared Deterding’s 13J stopped in turn 4 on lap 8 and the yellow flag flew. Homan advanced to third on lap 10 as Anthony Roth put the 60IV into fourth. Homan oved to second 2 laps later but lost the spot to Roth with 4 to go. The final top 4 were Svoboda, Roth, Homan and Pella.

There was a huge pileup at the beginning of the A Feature for the ATV Motorsports IMCA Sport Compacts collecting the 55N of Luke Nicholson and the 6 of Dan Markham. Josh Young put the 13J out front of the first official circuit followed by the 19X of Noah Boller, Jacob Schwab in the 19J and the 21M of Cullen Gossage. RJ Maas put the 88K into fourth on lap 3. Schwab advanced to second 3 laps later. Dillon Richards took over the fourth spot on lap 12 in the 19 as Maas advanced to third. 3 more laps were in the books when Richards passed Maas for third. Despite furious battles in the top 4 they retained their positions making the top 4 Young, Schwab, Richards and Maas.

The last event was for the Duros Dent Works Racesaver IMCA Sprint Cars. Troy Sanford’s 12K, the 1B of Brandon Horton, Jordan Grabouski’s 30 and the 4X of Jason Danley led the field after lap 1. Danley got past Grabouski on lap 4 but lost the spot back to him the next circuit. Danley again passed Grabouski 3 laps later and moved to second after another 2 circuits. Trevor Grossenbacher jumped the 95 into third with 12 to go, moved to second after 3 more circuits and jumped to the point 2 laps later. Neil Nickolite hit the outside wall in turn 4 with 8 to go to slow the action. At that time, it was Grossenbacher, Sanford, Danley and Grabouski. Tyler Drueke passed Grabouski on the restart to put the 12 into fourth. Danley moved to second after 2 more laps and Drueke followed him into second after another 2 circuits. Blake Robertson made the final change in the top four 2 laps later when he put the 15 into fourth. At the checkered flag it was Grossenbacher, Danley, Drueke and Robertson.

Next weekend Demon Decals and Budweiser present Bad Fast Fever. Front gates open at 5:00 with adult admission $12, youths 6-12 just $5 and children 5 and under free.

Hot laps begin at 5:30 with racing kicking off at 6:30. The Duros Dent Works Racesaver IMCA Sprint Cars, Nebraska Lottery IMCA Modifieds, Coors Light IMCA Sportmods, Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stocks and ATV Motorsports IMCA Sport Compacts will all be in action.

Pit gates open at 3:30 with pit passes costing $30.
