By Greg Soukup Very warm temperatures and a strong south wind greeted the near capacity crowd that came out for Superganza-Driver’s Appreciation Night sponsored by the Nebraska Lottery and Busch Light. The make-up features from May 19th were run before the regular sho. The Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock A was up first and began on lap 3 where it was called the week before. The Full Throttle Basket & Bottle Festival is Cancelled for Friday May 25th. Weather is an issue for the Balloon launch and glow for this evening with wind speed and scattered thunder storms possible. A beautiful spring day, although windy greeted the crowd at Eagle Raceway Saturday evening; but that would change later in the evening. The preliminary events had two serious incidents. In the first heat for the Exhaust Pros IMCA Sport Compacts Melissa Etherton’s 14M made hard contact with the outside wall as it came back to the flag stand and then veered hard left. Also involved was the 7A of Austin Angel who was forced into the infield coming to a stop. The fire and safety crews went to his aid and ended up extracting him from the car. Both Melissa and Austin were transported to the hospital via ambulance. At this time there is no word on his condition....

By Greg Soukup Another large crowd was on hand Saturday night for Diva Dash, Super Mom’s Tribute at Eagle Raceway Saturday night. The weather was beautiful and the racing was great in all classes. An attempt was made to set the world’s record for people doing the Twist during intermission. Also during intermission some of the sprint car drivers passed their helmets through the pits and stands to gather funds for the family of Eagle regular Jeff Osborn who lost his life during a race Friday evening. The Lincoln Saltdogs presented Mascot Wars 2012 with plenty of mascots in the stands for the fans. There was a kids Candy Dash at intermission also.
