Brunssen, Moyer and Sobbing victorious Night 1 of the Icebreaker Challenge

By Greg Soukup Mother Nature did something Friday night that she has seemed very reluctant to do in recent years; she allowed the Icebreaker Challenge, presented by AutoTrans Matic, to be run at Eagle Raceway. The folks who turned out braved cool temperatures and a stiff south breeze, but were rewarded with plenty of great racing to open the 2014 season at America’s Home Track. Cole Krichau went for a ride in the first heat for the Sam’s Club...

By Greg Soukup The one day that no racing fan wants to see is the final race day of the season, but last night’s Nebraska Cup at Eagle Raceway gave the fans that turned out to watch the action on the high banks of America’s Home Track plenty to remember and talk about over the long, cold off-season. The Nebraska Cup, presented by the Nebraska Lottery closed out a season filled with great racing action, and provided action that was equal to the best that anyone saw this year. Jason Martin’s #36 made contact with the 21V of Justin Henderson in the 5th heat for the ASCS/NCRA 360 sprint cars and ended up going for a series of end-over-end...

And this weekend’s season finale at Eagle Raceway will be no different. We WILL be going out with a bang as usual, and you won’t want to miss a second of it. The finale of the 1/3 Mile IMCA Sprint Super Nationals, presented by Coors Light was held Sunday on the high banks of “America’s Home Track”, Eagle Raceway on a night nearly perfect for racing. Mid 80’s temperatures turned to low 70’s as the night progressed. A good sized crowd showed up to see invaders from all over the country take on the sprint drivers from Eagle to see who would come out on top. One of those invaders, Seth Brahmer, set a new track record for the Racesaver 305 sprints, laying down a lap of 13.129 seconds in his heat. In the second heat for the IMCA Sprint Cars Matt Richards had the right rear wheel snap off of...

By Greg Soukup The fans who decided to stay home and watch the Husker game missed out on a great night of racing at Eagle Raceway last night.  Still, a good crowd turned out to watch the first night of the inaugural Eagle 1/3 Mile IMCA Sprint Super Nationals presented by Pepsi. A total of 53 sprinters signed in to compete in 6 heat races, a C Feature, B Feature and the finale. They were accompanied by the IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Modifieds who also ran their heats and A and B Features. Highs in the 90’s caused the track to be reworked at intermission, but that led to the fastest times of the night in the features....
