Friday, June 10ths Eagle Nationals have been cancelled due to more than expected amounts of rain. We will race Saturday, June 11th as planned. By Greg Soukup Student Breakout Night at Eagle Raceway, presented by Great Clips and Sun Drop, began with warm temperatures as the fans came through the front gates, greeted by an assortment of the mascots who would take part in Mascot Wars later on. The Great Clips mascot shared the top spot with Homer the Saltdog when the final votes were in. Also featured at intermission was the Rocket Fizz Candy Dash as the youngsters were invited onto the track to snag their part of approximately 5000 pieces of candy. By Greg Soukup A near-capacity crowd rolled through the gates for Ink Machine’s “Show your tattoo Night” sponsored by Miller and the Nebraska Lottery at Eagle Raceway Saturday night. Overcast skies and warm temperatures provided a great environment for the thousands of fans who made their first trek to “America’s Home Track”. The party atmosphere was in full swing the whole evening from the first heat to the final feature race. The racing provided a great show for one and all. The only serious incident happened in the 2nd heat for the Rev Honey IMCA Modifieds when a tie-up in turns 1 and 2 ended up with Mike Densberger’s #81 rolling over completely. The heavy rains that caused all of the area tracks to cancel last night and tonight didn’t keep the Eagle Raceway track prep crew from working long and hard in order to make a raceable surface for Armed Forces Night at “America’s Home Track” Saturday night. Despite 2 short showers as the heats were underway, it never came down hard enough to stop the racing. All of the heats were run without serious incident.
