Brunssen, Moyer and Sobbing victorious Night 1 of the Icebreaker Challenge

By Greg Soukup Mother Nature did something Friday night that she has seemed very reluctant to do in recent years; she allowed the Icebreaker Challenge, presented by AutoTrans Matic, to be run at Eagle Raceway. The folks who turned out braved cool temperatures and a stiff south breeze, but were rewarded with plenty of great racing to open the 2014 season at America’s Home Track. Cole Krichau went for a ride in the first heat for the Sam’s Club...

By Greg Soukup Despite over 4 inches of rain Thursday, Eagle Raceway’s track prep crew got the racing surface in shape for some fantastic action Saturday evening. Although there was rain all over the region, and several area race tracks cancelled their cards, the sun broke through and the high banks were tacky and fast. The preliminary events had no serious incidents. The Budweiser 360 Sprint Cars were the first feature event of the night. Tyler Drueke took advantage of his front row starting spot and held the lead after lap 1 in the #12 followed by ken Klabunde’s 28, the 82 of Jason Danley and John Klabunde in the 77. Posted 10 Jun 2012 in Headlines

By Greg Soukup Night one of the Eagle Nationals, featuring the Lucas Oil ASCS National Sprint Car Series presented by MavTV, and promoted by TBJ Promotions, saw great racing throughout the night in all 3 classes. Temperatures and expectations were high; and although the temperatures cooled, the competition stayed at a fever pitch until the final checkered flag. In the second heat for the ASCS Sprint Cars, as the racers came to turn 1 just a couple of laps in, the 71 of Tige Jensen and Dustin Morgan’s #2 flipped violently, collecting Jason Johnson’s 41. Jensen and Morgan’s cars were too badly damaged to be repaired, but Johnson’s crew would thrash and get him back in time for the...
