by Greg Soukup The fabulous weather continued for Fan with a Can Night at Eagle Raceway Saturday night, and the fans enjoyed it and great racing action through the evening and were headed out of the stands before 10 PM. All preliminary events were run with no serious occurrences. The first A Feature of the evening was for the NAPA IMCA Sport Modifieds. Dave Coberly’s 4U2, the 25! of Trevor Baker, Ken Stefonik’s 34K and the 2R of Don Rinke were the first four back to the flag stand on lap 1. After 3 years with no home, the IMCA Sprint Super Nationals are being resurrected this year at Eagle Raceway. The inaugural 1/3 Mile IMCA Sprint Super Nationals will be run Saturday and Sunday, August 31st and September 1st with a practice night on Friday, August 30th. As we all know, travel expenses are higher than ever, especially when you are towing a trailer long distances just to race. Once you figure in fuel costs, you can see what a single race can cost a team. The weather was great and the racing was even better. Sunny skies, mid-70’s temperatures that turned to a cool evening with 3-wide action on the track kept the fans happy. And, at intermission 320 lucky youngsters walked away with a brand new bicycle so those future fans were thrilled! The preliminary action saw great racing but no significant happenings. By Greg Soukup A perfect night for racing greeted the huge crowd who turned out for Fan Appreciation Night presented by Kaplan University Saturday night. The high banks of Eagle Raceway were prepped for action and the weather was nearly perfect. Preliminary races were run with no significant occurrences. Benji Legg’s 25B stopped on the front stretch to bring out the yellow flag on the initial circuit of the NAPA IMCA Sport Modified A Feature. By Greg Soukup It wasn’t a full moon Saturday night as Sam’s Club presented Nostalgic Night at Eagle Raceway, but it was a strange night nonetheless. In the hot laps for the Budweiser IMCA Racesaver Sprints Frank Sheridan’s car suffered a fuel leak and caught fire. After the fire was extinguished, and it was being pushed back to his pit, the fire reignited. In the first heat race for the Sam’s Club IMCA Sport Compacts the 82B of Kurt Beckstrom ran headlong into the wall between turns 1 & 2. Kurt had to be extracted from the car after suffering a severe ankle injury. In the third heat for the class Amanda Rhiley suffered a broken forearm after spinning...
