Sunny skies, mid-70’s temperatures that turned to a cool evening with 3-wide action on the track kept the fans happy. And, at intermission 320 lucky youngsters walked away with a brand new bicycle so those future fans were thrilled! The preliminary action saw great racing but no significant happenings. By Greg Soukup A perfect night for racing greeted the huge crowd who turned out for Fan Appreciation Night presented by Kaplan University Saturday night. The high banks of Eagle Raceway were prepped for action and the weather was nearly perfect. Preliminary races were run with no significant occurrences. Benji Legg’s 25B stopped on the front stretch to bring out the yellow flag on the initial circuit of the NAPA IMCA Sport Modified A Feature. In the hot laps for the Budweiser IMCA Racesaver Sprints Frank Sheridan’s car suffered a fuel leak and caught fire. After the fire was extinguished, and it was being pushed back to his pit, the fire reignited. In the first heat race for the Sam’s Club IMCA Sport Compacts the 82B of Kurt Beckstrom ran headlong into the wall between turns 1 & 2. A huge car count of 182 and the season’s largest crowd turned out, thanks in part to the True Grit Challenge in memory of Jeff and Tanner Fosler. There were no significant incidents in the preliminary events. The initial A Feature was for the NAPA IMCA Sport Modifieds. Kaleb Kennedy led Shawn Harker’s 40 and the 7R of Kyle Flodman.
