Let’s Get Rocked Night victories to Saathoff, Fegley, Roth, Cronin and Boston

“Let’s Get Rocked” Night, presented by Rotella’s Italian Bakery and Coors Light, at Eagle Raceway Saturday saw a beautiful, warm afternoon setting the scene for some great racing between 134 teams on an extremely fast track, thanks to overnight rains.

The lone bad incident in the preliminary races saw Joe Miller go up and over after his front end failed going into turn 3 in the third heat for the Racesaver IMCA Sprint Cars. Miller was not significantly hurt.

Derek Hall’s 44D, Joe Schidler in the K00, Gary Saathoff’s 96 and Bob Ruisinger in the 7 were the top 4 after lap 1 of the NAPA IMCA Sport Modified Feature. Saathoff moved to second on lap 2 and Ruisinger followed him into third the next time around, with Saathoff snagged the lead after another circuit. Mark Leiting put the 20M into fourth on lap 6. Arie Schouten looped the 99RE on lap 7. Leiting moved up to third on the restart. Benji Legg cracked the top 4 on the next lap in his 25B. Leiting advanced to second with 8 laps left and Legg followed him into third after another lap. Brandon Spanjer’s 19XX stopped at the top of turn 4 with 4 to go. Randy Fox spun his 09RX on the restart. Mike Rice’s 94 slowed a lap after the restart for the final caution of the race. Legg passed Leiting with 2 laps to go for the final change in the top 4. At the checkers it was Saathoff, Legg, Leiting and Schidler.

This was Saathoff’s first 2015 victory at Eagle Raceway. “I switched to Razor Chassis this year after Travis Roth talked me into it, and it was the best choice I’ve ever made. Getting a good start was the key tonight, even after I got to the front because of all of the yellows. But, I got it done” stated Saathoff. Saathoff’s sponsors include Razor Chassis, Schmidt Machine and Wasserman Trucking.

The Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock A saw Mark Saathoff’s 97M lose the left front wheel on the start to bring out a caution on lap 1. When the first lap was official Casey Moyer’s 38C was out front with Joe Wollenhaupt’s’4w, Tim Kozak in the 29 and the 48 of Dale Hoyle rounding out the top 4. Lap 2 saw Brint Lemke’s 26L jump to third, putting Kozak fourth. Kozak went very high in 1 and 2 the next time around allowing David Carter to put the 2C into fourth. Chad Fegley moved the 13F into fourth after another lap and moved into third with 11 to go. Another circuit saw Fegley advance to second. Adam Armstrong cracked the top 4 with his 6A with 8 to go. Armstrong moved to second and his father Roy Armstrong put the 6R into third with 3 to go as Fegley took the lead. Roy Armstrong hit a lapped car that had been spun by Adam on the last lap. Adam Armstrong was penalized back to 5th for the action, making the top 4 Fegley, Lemke Wollenhaupt and Moyer.

Felgey’s third win in a row came from his starting spot inside of row 6. “That was FUN!! The track was moist and definitely fast, but just awesomely fun. I have to thank my family and friends for all of their help. Special thanks go to my wife Jenifer for putting up with my racing and standing behind me” Fegley said. Fegley’s sponsors include The Shop Inc., Nightmare Vinyl and Sapp Brothers.

The NAPA IMCA Modified main event saw Jared Hoefelman’s 15H and the 13 of Doug Deterding get together before the start and both head to the pits. Anthony Roth in the 60IV, Bob Zoubek’s 33Z, the 4 of Roger Hadan and the 4X of Kevin Larkins led lap 1. Nathan Landauer passed Larkins on lap 3, putting the 11N into fourth. Landauer moved past Zoubek on lap 9 for second and Hadan also passed Zoubek the next lap. The top 4 at the finish were Roth, Landauer, Hadan and Zoubek.

This marked Roth’s first 2015 victory at “America’s Home Track” and came after starting outside the front row. “This was great, sweeping my heat and the feature. It sure was better than the last time we were here, flipping 7 times. I went into the first corner like there was no tomorrow! Thanks to all of my fans for their support. Also my dad and brother for all that they do. Also my car owner Vanton Farms” he said. Roth’s sponsors include Razor, Shell Valley, Roth Racing, Afco, Ziebart, R & R Sandblasting and Total Eclipse Salon.

Erica Cronin led the Sam’s Club IMCA Sport Compact A Feature in her #30, followed by the 88 of Michelle Nicholson, Melissa Cronin’s 5M and the 14J of Justin Olsen. Olsen moved up to third on lap 2, and then passed Nicholson the next circuit. Tommy Etherton’s 24T stopped in turn 3 on lap 5 for a caution. Matt Moyer moved to fourth with8 to go as Olsen took over the lead. Cronin retook the lead with 4 to go. Olsen suffered a flat tire and Erica Cronin, Nicholsen, Moyer and Melissa Cronin all passed him. The top 4 ended up Erica Cronin, Nicholson, Moyer and Melissa Cronin.

This was Erica’s very first victory. “I got comfortable finally, and I wasn’t letting go! Thanks to my parents, but a HUGE thanks to Dad and Cole for getting all of our cars going and keeping them running. Also, thanks to Tracy Barr for doing our video every race night” said Erica.

The finale was for the Racesaver IMCA Sprint Cars and saw Lee Bowes’ 74 lead lap 1 with Nick Bryan’s 52, the 77D of Keith Dragoo and Shayle Bade in the 03 close behind. Ryan King flipped the #93 in turn 4 on lap 2 for a red flag. Bade jumped to second on the restart and Dragoo remained in third but Adam Gullion put the #91 into fourth. Gullion moved to third on lap 4. 3 laps later Bade temporarily took the lead but Bowes took back the point the next lap and Gullion moved to third. Dragoo moved back into the top 4 on lap 10, taking fourth back as Gullion moved to second and Bade dropped to third. Mike Johnson’s 14J slowed and stopped on lap 11 for another caution.  Gullion passed Bowes for the lead on the restart, Dragoo took third and Mike Boston moved into fourth in the 51. 1 more lap was in the books as Boston jumped up to second and Tyler Drueke put the #12 into fourth. Drueke moved up to third with 8 to go. Boston took over the top spot the next time around. The final change in the top 4 came with 3 to go as Shon Pointer moved his 20P into fourth. The final results saw Boston winning, Gullion second, Drueke third and Pointer in fourth.

Boston’s victory was his first this year after starting outside of the third row. “It’s been one of those years. I kind of dropped back at the start there, but I gathered it back up and got after it again. I decided to run a little different line in 1 and 2 and started to diamond it. You know what they say, ‘Sometimes it’s better to be in second’. Thanks to Amber; I finally found someone who wants to race more than I do! Special thanks to Zach Woods; this is his motor. Also to Ron Sardeson and MTO Clean. Most of all to my dad who works his butt off, putting in tons of hours. He does a thankless job because I can’t spend too much time on it as busy as I’ve been at work” stated Boston.

Next Saturday Colby Ridge presents “We will rock you!” night at Eagle Raceway. Front gates open at 5:15, hot laps start at 5:30 with racing at 6:30. Adult front gate admission is just $10, youths 6-12 are Free and children 5 and under are free.
