Posted 09 Sep 2014 in Featured News

By Greg Soukup The weather for the Nebraska Cup, presented by the Nebraska Lottery and Hoosier could not have been better. A good crowd turned out to see the ASCS Midwest Sprint Cars and the SLMR Late Models compete on the high banks of America’s Home Track, and nobody left disappointed. The only serious incident in the preliminary events came in the first heat for the ASCS Sprint Cars. The left rear axle on Jason Johnson’s #41 snapped, sending him up and over. Johnson was not seriously injured. Al Humphrey’s 6, the Z62 of Justin Zeitner, Kyle Berck’s 14 and the 26JR of Corey Zeitner were the first four back to the flag stand on lap 1 of the...

By Greg Soukup Mother Nature failed twice to stop Night #1 of the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Super Nationals, presented by Precise Racing, Venom Energy and NMC Cat Rental Store Friday evening at Eagle Raceway. After dumping over 5 inches of rain on the track in the days before, she allowed the first heat to be run. She made a last-ditch effort before the second heat could be run, raining for about 20 minutes. As they had that morning and afternoon, Eagle’s track prep crew and the push trucks took to the high banks accompanied by Roger Hadan in the water truck and began saving the racing surface. It took over an hour, but their efforts provided a smooth and...

IMCAlogocolor (2)

The history of the division long ago known as the IMCA big cars continues this weekend at Eagle Raceway, with the second annual Sprint Car Super Nationals. The first IMCA events were held at county and state fairgrounds tracks in 1915. Under the hood horsepower steadily replaced horse racing at venues across the country and many IMCA Sprint Car hotshoes became household names before World War II intervened. Racing resumed in 1946 and so did the popularity of IMCA and its drivers. The likes of Bobby Grim, Emory Collins, Deb Snyder, and Pete Folse thrilled fans from coast to coast, each winning more than 100 sanctioned features over the course of their stories careers. Hard times came to the...
