Bade,Ware,Hiatt,Bruce and Andrews Win at Eagle Raceway’s Cash Bash

Last night at Eagle Raceway was one of my 2 favorite nights of the season. Miller Lite and Colby Ridge presented Junior Fan Club Cash Bash, and the stands held a large crowd of fans, including lots of kids. The reason that it was one of my favorites was the Kid’s $1000 Money Grab at intermission.

Seeing the front stretch filled with kids itching to snag their share of the booty, then walking back to the stands with their hauls and big smiles on their faces is an experience that is hard to describe.

Cole Wayman’s 18, the 44D of Derek Hall, Amber Cook in the21 and the 22 of Matt Andrews led the field back to the flag stand on lap 1 of the Sam’s Club IMCA Sport Modified A feature. Hall passed Wayman for the lead on lap 2 as Andrews moved to third. Andrews gained another spot the next lap, taking over second. Trevor Noonan put the 66 into fourth the next time around. The next lap saw Terry Callender loop the 5T in turn 4. Shawn Harker passed Noonan on the restart, putting the 40 into fourth. There were 10 laps left when Harker moved up to third. With 6 circuits remaining there was a big shuffle in the top spots as Harker took over the lead, Andrews dropped to fourth, Hall held third and Wayman fell to fourth. Noonan retook the fourth spot the next time around. Andrews made the final move in the top four, passing Harker for first with 2 laps left. The final top four were Andrews, Harker, Hall and Noonan.

This was Andrews’ third Eagle Raceway victory of 2019. Andrews stated “I want to thank my Dad. He busts his ass on the car all week. Also, my father-in-law who comes every week and puts in a lot of work on the car. Of course, my wife who takes care of the kids all week so that we can go racing and come out to have fun”. Andrews’ sponsors include Bonta Medical, Jet Racing, Skytop Towers, Lippy’s Barbecue and RDM Landscapes.

Brint Lemke’s 26L came to a halt against the front stretch wall with a broken right front suspension at the start of the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock A Main. Brooke Fluckiger led the first official lap in the 2B with the 85 of Albert Kiihne, Neil Pella in the 3N and Colby Kaspar’s 39C rounding out the top 4. Kaspar moved up to third on lap 2 as Mike Hansen put the 94 into fourth. Robert Gould lost the right rear from the 72 the next time around and the yellow flag flew. Jesse Vanlaningham headed to the pits with a flat right rear during the caution as did

David Carter whose 2C had stopped at the top of turn 1. Roy Armstrong put the 6R into fourth on the restart. The yellow lights came on in the corners again the next lap as Jeff Watts’ 66, Carter and Tyler Jackson’s 13T came to a halt in turn 2. 1 lap after the restart Armstrong jumped up to the lead with Kiihne, Kaspar and Fluckiger followed close behind. Brett Saathoff put the 11B into second the next lap with Hansen regaining fourth. Jeff Ware passed Hansen for fourth in the 83. Ware moved up to third the next lap but was put back when Tanner Dowty spun the 7V in turn 2. Ware took over the third spot on the restart. Saathoff passed Armstrong the next lap when Armstrong slid very high in 3 and 4. Jared Jackson spun in turn 2 with 7 laps remaining. Ware passed Armstrong for second on the restart. Hansen pulled to the infield with 4 to go, putting Fluckiger back to fourth. Ware and Armstrong both passed Saathoff on the final lap, making the top 4 Ware, Armstrong, Saathoff and Fluckiger.

This was #8 in a row for Ware at Eagle this season. “Roy tagged Saathoff a little bit, getting him sideways. I kind of pounced on it. Then Saathoff pushed on me twice. I couldn’t have won by much, but we’ll take it!!” said Ware.

The Hoosier Tire IMCA Modified finale saw Trent Roth’s 14T lead lap #1 with Shane Hiatt’s 21H, the 8C of Chad Andersen and Jan Korth’s 42K the top 4. Mike Densberger passed Korth the next lap, putting the 81 into fourth. Densberger then moved to third with 13 circuits remaining. Roth was pounding the cushion and Hiatt was hugging the bottom as the battled. Hiatt finally got passed Roth using the low line with 7 to go and managed to hold him off for the victory.

This was Hiatt’s first win this year at America’s Home Track. “it’s been a long time coming. We’ve been kind of struggling with this new car, but we put in a lot of hours in the shop this week and really dug deep to see if we could make it any better. All of the hard work paid off finally! That was a good race with Trent. When we got to lapped traffic, I saw that there was less traffic down on the bottom, so I stayed there and finally got past him” said Hiatt. Hiatt’s sponsors include BSB Manufacturing, Shelby Hotel, Speedway Crate Motors, CPD Shocks, Becker Arms and Outdoors, The Wetlands Bar and Grill, Baker Boys Racing, J&K Motorsports, Dynamic Drivelines, Spock, Knuth Farms, RC Pit Stop, Glock, D-Sign Shop, Moock Trucking, Skytop Towers, Emma, Kevko Racing Pans and Components, JGR, Cruz Hiatt Motorsports and Dylan Smith Racing.

Steffen Oaks in the 17, Brian Cronin’s 35, the 23B of Tyler Masek and the 13J of Josh Young were the first 4 after the first lap of the ATV Motorsports IMCA Sport Compact A Main. Ramsey Meyer’s 21R stopped on the front stretch on lap 2 for a caution period. Devin Bruce put the 52D into fourth on the restart and moved up to third the next lap. Young took over fourth the next time around. Cronin snagged the lead the next lap. With 9 laps remaining Oaks slowed and headed to the pits. That made the top 4 Cronin, Bruce, Young and the 70SS of Cole Krichau. A big shuffle of the top four happened on the final circuit as Cronin fell to fourth, Young was third, Krichau took second and Bruce won.

This marked victory #2 in 2019 for Bruce. “Thanks to Mom and Dad for everything they do. I got a little lucky there at the end, but I’ll take it” he said. Bruce’s sponsors include Mechanical Services, Sign Pro and Five Star Truck Services.

The Duros Dent Works r Racesaver IMCA Sprint Car A Feature’s first circuit was led by the 22C of Chad Koch with the 21 of Ryan Kitchen, Ryan King’s 93 and the 4W of Nate Weiler close behind. Shayle Bade put the 03 into fourth on lap 3, moved up to third the next time around and grabbed second after another circuit. She caught Koch on lap 10. As Koch ran the low line Bade took the high line around the track. Bade slipped up on lap 12 and nearly looped it in turn 2 but recovered and set off in pursuit of the 22C again. King advanced to third with 9 to go. 4 laps remained when Bade finally caught back up to Koch and passed him. From there to the finish Bade pulled away for the win with Koch second, King third and Kitchen fourth.

This was Bade’s second win at Eagle this year, after having won the Sprint Series of Nebraska portion of the Icebreaker Challenge and came from the 5th spot on the starting grid. She related “It about didn’t happen, but we got it done! Chad was running away from me, so as soon as I finally got into some clean air I saw him and started running him down. And then the track just changed in a lap. I was running high the whole time and everything was great, then all of a sudden I went high on my same line and just wasn’t good all of a sudden. I almost spun out in 1 and 2 and I thought ‘Well, hopefully 3 and 4 will be better’ and the same thing happened on the same lap. About the time I was getting ready to pass for the lead I messed up, but I found him again but he was a whole straightaway

ahead of me. At that moment I thought ‘Okay, second is really good. I’m fine with that’. We only had 6 or 7 laps to go, but as soon as he caught up to lapped traffic I thought ‘Well, there’s my chance!’. I moved down a little bit and slowed down a little bit to try and help my wheel spin. And then it was on again. We got into lapped traffic and I started coming. After the race he came up to me and said, ‘I heard you up there, but I wasn’t coming off of the bottom’, so I told him ‘I appreciate it, and it worked out for both of us!!’. I want to give a big thanks to Shad Roth for all he does for the race team. He’s really helped us out a lot with the upkeep on the Racesaver. Without him, our Racesaver car wouldn’t be nearly as successful as it is. Also, my Dad; he’s a really big part of our team”. Bade’s sponsors include Helget Construction, Onyx Wraps, MyRacePass, Carpetland, Rowes Graphics, Restore A Muscle Car and TJT Photography.
